Last week I wrote a post about asking for and giving directions. While I was preparing a lesson for my 6th-graders, I realized that I can use familiar road signs to teach them some useful expressions. Of course, I used Polish road signs. I added two green signs, which are not road signs.

I had to get to all types of learners, so I combined looking at the signs, listening to the phrases being spoken by the teacher and acting out the phrases.

It's good to know how to ask for and give directions. I've prepared three printable pictures with helpful expressions. When you are asking for the way, you can say, e.g. "How can I get to...?" or "Can you tell me the way to... ?" Please, remember to be polite :) To get somebody's attention, you can use the phrase: "Excuse me."
